11 Practices for Highly Productive Meetings (Infographic)

Meetings are necessary, but some might describe them as a necessary evil. Unfortunately, many people feel the same way: Too many meetings equal too much wasted time, say nearly half of workers.

Even so, there are 11 million of those meetings every day, averaging about an hour in prep work and over 30 percent of the day.

But there are ways to improve meeting times. The first way is to figure out the type of meeting you’re having—and the invitation list. It shouldn’t be an invite-everyone scenario, but an invite-only-who-needs-to-be-there. Mondays are bad meeting times, and timeliness is important too. That’s not just timeliness in start, but timeliness in ending, too. Post-meeting, a follow up and list of deadlines and responsibilities can help encourage people to complete required tasks.
