Leaderly Quote: Are results the only thing that matters?
By Jo Miller
Want to stand out in business? Deliver results! It’s a key piece in the giant jigsaw puzzle that makes up the skill set of a successful business leader. But it’s not the piece, by a long shot.
Are results the only thing that matters?
“Are results the only thing that matters? If not, what does and why?” asked one aspiring leader in a leadership webinar I facilitated for the Network of Executive Women.
Webinar panelist Lisa Bisaccia, who is Chief Human Resources Officer with CVS Health, always looks beyond the bottom line when she evaluates her team’s performance. “Results matter,” said Bisaccia, “but how you get there can be even more important. We’re looking for how you got there. Did you lead the way, and did people follow you?”
So being an effective leader isn’t only about delivering results. Here are three criteria that Bisaccia looks for, in addition to measuring results, when evaluating her team’s performance. It’s a great checklist for what it takes to be a well-rounded leader.
- Did you lead the way, and did people follow you?
- Is it a win-win solution?
- Are the results sustainable?
