Leaderly Quote: Build a network of people who inspire, challenge and motivate…
By Jo Miller
What’s your most challenging career goal?
Whether it is to raise your hand for new leadership responsibilities, make a course correction into a role that matches your strengths, share your expertise by speaking at a conference, negotiate a job title that reflects your seniority, join a non-profit board or lead a major project, having a supportive network of allies and advocates can make the journey much, much easier.
If you’re feeling tentative about making a gutsy move, don’t try to push forward alone. Enlist some advocates who can shoulder some of the risk, inspire you to stretch your aspirations, and remind you of what you’re worth when you doubt yourself.
Build a network of people who inspire, challenge and motivate you to make bold, fearless moves.
And after you succeed in making your breakout move, ask yourself: What can I do to pay it forward, and support someone else as they make their next daring move?
