Leaderly Quote: Do less. Lead more.
By Jo Miller
As you prepare for the week ahead, here’s a reminder that no matter what you’re working on, you don’t have to do it alone.
Want to make great things happen? So much more is possible if you do less, and lead more.
So this week, find at least one item on your to-do list that could be done by leading, not doing, the work. And don’t just delegate it in the old-fashioned way. Practice developmental delegating (it’s like delegating… on steroids!)
Ask yourself “Who on this team would be totally jazzed to be taking on this responsibility because it represents a step forward in their career or leadership development?” and assign the task accordingly.
It might take more time to help them skill up, but you will have done so much more than delegating. You will have mentored someone, expanded the capabilities of your team, and developed your leadership chops.
