Leaderly Quote: Mentors give you perspective. Sponsors give you opportunities
By Jo Miller
Recently I was working on a presentation about the difference between mentors and sponsors, why you need both, and how to work effectively with them.
I collected and tweeted some quotes about the difference between mentors and sponsors. For example, “Mentors talk with you. Sponsors talk about you,” by @catalystheather, and “Mentors help you skill up. Sponsors help you move up,” which I came up with myself.
To which my Twitter buddy, Be Leaderly guest author Cate Huston responded “Mentors give you perspective. Sponsors give you opportunities.”
I just love that!
