Leaderly Quote: When the best leader’s work is done…
By Jo Miller
I love this quote from Chinese philosopher and poet, Lao Tzu (believed to be the author of the Tao Te Ching.)
“When the best leader’s work is done the people say,
‘We did it ourselves.'”
What does this look like in practice?Set your ego aside and set others up for success. Set clear goals, guidelines and expectations. Empower your people, remove obstacles in their path, and challenge them to achieve amazing things. Give frequent feedback: Trust, but verify.
Then cut ’em loose! And allow them to own the successes that follow.
